I'm trying to run errands, see friends and wrap up all those loose ends that have lingered for far too long before leaving the country for the rest of the year. I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for the amazing support you've provided during my first quarter in grad school. It was a huge adjustment for me, after working and living a pretty flexible life for ten years, to pack up my books every morning and head to school for what was typically a twelve hour day. It was challenging and frightening and exhausting and fabulous all at once.
I am now one sixth of the way through and have already spent hours upon hours with many lovely, amazing people who I know will be lifelong friends. It was definitely the right decision... even with that painful 6.5% interest rate on my student loans.
So Thank You....
...for the sweet friends who forgave me for my busy schedule that didn't allow me nearly enough time with them
...the early morning phone calls with my Mom while waiting at the bus stop, often in the dark
...the many, many hot dinners that the TMF made for me after a long day of school when I most definitely would have been eating some frozen entree from Trader Joe's
...the support of my brother who always seemed to know exactly how I was feeling even when I hadn't said a word, like knowing I was likely a ball of nerves during Thanksgiving considering I had a mountain of school work and final exams facing me in the following two weeks
Thank you and I hope you all have a truly wonderful holiday and that 2009 brings fabulous adventures to all! Now on to my adventure. I'll return in 2009 with no shortage of photos from Argentina.
